Bulgaria's setter Mirela Shahpazova helped the Europeans to book a quick 4-0 win versus Kenya
Ljubljana, Slovenia, September 11, 2017 – Bulgaria’s offense scored 35 points to boost the East European’s 2017 FIVB Women’s U23 World Championship campaign with their second triumph here in Ljubljana, following their 4-0 (15-1, 15-5, 15-6, 15-11) win over Kenya in Pool B at Sportna Dvorana Tivoli Hall on Monday afternoon.
Beside their 35 fruitful spikes, Bulgaria added seven successful blocks and five aces to their scorebook. Yvone Wavinya was the best scorer for Kenya with five points.
All matches in Ljubljana are played under a
new scoring system currently being tested: a best-of-seven, 15-point set format.
The East Europeans jumped out for an ultra-quick first set win (15-1!), building on their exceptional 4-2 win against Japan on Sunday night. Kenya did their utmost to resist but could not cope with the speed and organization Bulgaria displayed.
It remained a one-sided affair in the following three sets with Antonina Zetova’s squad never looking back. Miroslava Paskova concluded Bulgaria’s imposing firework with a blistering winner from the left to make it 4 to nothing in only 54 minutes.
