Team profile

Kenya

 Kenya U23 women Team qualified for the world championships after finishing the Africa qualifiers in  2nd position behind Egypt in 2016. This will be the 2nd time Kenya sends a team at this level having participated in Mexico 2009. Most of this players have graduated through the ranks from U17 and a lot is expected from them in this year's championships. Majority of players are drawn from our top clubs and will be making their global participation for the first time but have years of experience from continental competition. The team is coached by former international player and long time Coach Catherine Mabwi and captained by middle blocker shyrine Jepkemboi.

Former international player, she featured also for Telecom Kenya club and also played professional volleyball in El hilal sportiff club of Tunisia. Currently she is the Kenya U23 women team Coach. She is an FIVB coach Level II
